Shoe Trends for 2021
After the year of being at home and maintaining social distancing wearing shoes and going out shopping or for a brunch feels a little weird. Even though most of us might be used to wearing flip flops or slippers at home but wearing those black ankle booties or wedges or those beautiful brown Chelsea boots might be taxing for some.
We know some of you might say why we would wear flip flops or slippers even at home, we rather wear kicks or sneakers and it makes us feel good about ourselves in this crazy pandemic.
But this is the story of the year 2020, with the New Year we of course have new hopes because of the lock down being eased and everyone stepping back into the world and into our fancy shoes. The spring/summer 2021 shoe trends by world renowned designers are giving major cravings to go on a shoe shopping spree.
Bringing to you the latest trends of 2021
Clogs
A lot of you might think clogs are in Trend??? We know for most people the enthusiasm of wearing clogs gradually decreases. But We have news for you, Hermes has given clogs a makeover and has created a shiny chic leather design which can be effortlessly paired with everything right from casuals to formals.
This season the trend of clogs is back with a bang and there are a lot of different styles to choose from. Be it the chunky styled clogs, or the platform heel version from the 90’s or the polished separates.
We am this trend will tempt you to pick a few for yourself.
Strappy is back
Gone are the days where strappy sandals were limited to a street style. Thanks to J W Anderson and Givenchy’s runway trends which has showcased prominent upgrades from the average basic sandals to the one with several straps that divide the toe box and toes.
Glorified the Sandals
Seems like all the shoes are getting a makeover this season. This season flat sandal trend got a makeover from being simple slim - strapped and minimalistic to being bigger with wide strapped and heavily padded for maximum comfort.
You can also look for embellished sandals this seasons. Even the sandals with a pillowy detail will definitely step up a basic simple sandal. More over an embellished or a pillowy detailed sandal will definitely add a touch of playfulness to your look while being extremely comfortable.
After almost a whole year of being super comfortable at home, We guess even our runway designers contemplated why anyone would want to get out of their ultra-comfy and cosy home slippers. You can see such comfy slip on, on the runway that make you feel you are walking on a soft fur carpet be it inside or outside your homes.
Brands like Balenciaga and Rosetta Getty are still leaning in the fever of being cosy at home and one can see glimpses of this on the runway as well.
We know this lock down has made us lazy and taking the effort o wearing those heels and stepping out seems a bit of a stretch. If your feeling are like mine about wearing stilettoes or wedges or even those beautiful pumps, this trend is for you.
This season, baby heel or kitten heels or even low block heels are in trend. Be it two toned sling back right from the Chanel runway or those pointy toed colourful kitten heels from the Prada runway, this super comfortable trend is a must try.
Simple flats
These flats are evergreen and continued to rule our wardrobe in and after the quarantine. Simple Ballerinas or sling back flats are a perfect choice for home gathering and casual dinners as well as. Opt of simple elegantly buckled ballerinas or an elongated pointy toe box which will give a beautiful leg elongating effect.
Sky high - Platform heels
This is my personal favourite. Flatforms heels are suddenly in trend in 2021. You may notice on the runways of Ulla Johnson and At Erdem Altuzarra the sole of the shoes have been elevated to daring heights in chunky quirky sandals with wooden and raffia heels.
Even though these heels come in different heights they are very comfortable to walk in. They give you the same height as stilettoes or pencil heel do but they are definitely more comfortable to walk in.
Leather tie ups
This trend of 2021 has all the ease of a sneaker and street style but upon closer look they are not just intended for a jog in the park or a funky dress up but can actually be teamed up with a formal wear as well.
Leather tie up with casual soles appeared on the runway buy these in shades of black and brown and they can be the perfect comfortable work wear.
Louis Vuitton also had this trend in sport casual soles with colour blocking which is a perfect footwear for a casual day out.
Miu Miu also had the same metallic sneaker styled shoes in kitten heels.
We know you guys must be wondering isn’t this trend done with in A/W 2020, but no We are here to tell you don’t pack away your chain link shoes just yet and let us all thank brands like Tom Ford, Victoria Beckham and Versace.
The chunky chain link adds drama to your footwear for the days you want to dress up and head to a party. An more importantly this trend can go perfectly in sync with the chunky jewellery trend of 2021 pair these two and you are good on accessories front for an event.
We hope this blog helps you in making wise shoes choices for the spring summer season. Apart from these trends you can go for Mules, Loafers and my favourite ankle length leather booties.
After all why should we restrict wearing boots only for autumn / winter season? Believe me nothing can make an outfit stand out like a pair of black boots.
Style tip: Pair a white T-shirt with ice blue denims with black boots or brown ankle booties and you can enjoy a shopping day with your girls or turn heads at a brunch date.
