India’s Representation At The MET Gala 2025

MET Mondays are special, yes? Sitting on our couch, looking at the gorgeous ensembles by elite designers, donned by some prominent celebrities across the globe. And this year seems extra special. One of the biggest celebrations of cultural diversity, the South Asian turnout at the MET Gala 2025 is the biggest to date, with not just celebrities but also designers showcasing their beautiful and intricate craftsmanship, which celebrates the artistry of India.

A-line Indian celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Diljit Dosanjh, and Natasha Puunawalla, among other stars were spotted on the MET carpet. From elaborate long trains to chic suits, let’s get into what the celebrities donned.

Priyanka Chopra was dressed in the prettiest polka-dotted cinched waist ensemble customized by Balmain. With a piece of statement jewelry by Bvlgari, with the biggest emerald stone necklace, the brand has ever created. Priyanka looked as ravishing as ever and celebrated the theme as well.

Shah Rukh Khan made his debut this year and had all jaws on the floor. Though the outfit may have been simplistic, Sabya was right in saying that his aura was the moment they wanted to bring forth on the carpet. And that big “K” locket did just that, along with the cane he carried which added the needed subtle element of Black dandyism. Sabya also donned one of his creations and looked rich and right on theme with his elaborate yet sophisticated headgear and his chic look.

And our favourite look of the lot was Natasha Poonawalla, always right on the theme and giving us the best vicarious experience of luxury. Her beautiful ensemble was made with traditional Parsi Gara saris curated by the talented Manish Malhotra. Manish Malhotra himself also made an appearance on the carpet and turned heads with his phenomenal sherwani look which looked right out of a royal Dharma film.

Isha Ambani also was seen gliding on the carpet with the most opulent ensemble by Anamika Khanna, styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania. The look was mesmerising, elevated with jewels that featured a historic Cartier necklace which once belonged to the Maharaja of Nawanagar.

Kiara Advani, the new mommy-to-be was in the most magnificent and heartfelt outfit by Gaurav Gupta which showcased two hearts adjoined with an adorned umbilical cord to show the connection between a mother and child and celebrate heritage.

Diljit Dosanjh brought his own heritage to the carpet which met with very controversial opinions regarding the relevance to the theme. However, the ensemble looked powerful and was created by Prabal Gurung, who ensured that all heads turned towards Diljit at the MET.

If there was someone who nailed the theme right on the nose, it was Mindy Kaling in a custom Harbison Studios gown that featured a white collar with a fitted black dress, and red velvet accents that screamed black dandyism in every way possible.

Mona Patel after her dashing last year’s debut, yet again left our jaws on the floor with her ravishing Thom Browne outfit. Decked in a classy tux, she carried a robot dachshund, Hector, inspired by Browne’s pet, with a 1000-carat diamond leash.

And that’s how the South Asians brought their A-game to the MET of 2025.
