Smart sneakers and sandals may have been mainstays in our summer wardrobes but, as the mercury drops and the nights draw in, only robust footwear will do. And, for something that’s guaranteed to protect your feet against the more challenging elements, you can’t go wrong with a pair of quality Chelsea boots. Chelsea boots first appeared in the Victorian era. It came with a sleek and sophisticated design, with elasticated panels on the side to keep them close-fitting but comfortable. Chelsea boots are the most timeless and stylish women’s boots for every fall and winter wardrobe. Firstly, let’s define what a Chelsea boot is. A Chelsea boot is one of the most popular and best boots styles that features no laces on the front and instead features two elasticated panels on either ankle that stretch to accommodate your foot. Chelsea boots are crafted in all different types of material. They also come in a broad range of designs and styles from sleek and simple to rugged and workwear inspired. So, let’s discuss the history that’s made them so iconic. History The origins of the Chelsea boot date back to 1851 when Queen Victoria’s cobbler, J. Sparkes-Hall, designed the boot for the Queen who was a regular horse rider. Known at the time as Paddock Boots they were designed to be a lot easier to slide in and out of than the long-laced boots that were fashionable at the time. They were quickly adopted by high society as riding and walking boots, and then later the working class, as practical and sturdy boots that could withstand their farm-based lifestyles. It wasn’t until the 1950s with the opening of the UK’s first café to serve espresso, the Fantasie café. This invited an explosion of Designers, bohemians, musicians, writers, revolutionaries, and artists to the area, which was of course Chelsea in England. The area became so well known it was named the “Chelsea Set” by the media. The elasticated ankle boot was synonymous with the style and the lifestyle of these fashionable people and the area of Chelsea. Eventually, they became known as the Chelsea Boot. From Queens to Kings, The Beatles were often seen wearing their own version of the Chelsea boot, The Beatle Boot. This boot was fitted with a High Cuban heel and a more pronounced toe, more like what you’d see on an American Cowboy boot today. This of course meant that with the wild popularity of The Beatles through the 1960s the Chelsea Boot remained synonymous with popular counterculture. They were even worn by Storm Troopers in the Star Wars movies broadening their appeal past the Stage and onto the screen. It was around the 80s that they were recognized as a fantastic boot for riding a motorcycle and were often worn by Punk rockers and through heavy metal fandoms, further expanding their use case and appeal. With this in mind, we at London Rag have compiled a list of the best chelsea boots to pull on this season, which promise to take you seamlessly and stylishly from the office to after-work drinks. Once upon a time, not too long ago, it was common practice for us to hop onto social media or watch TV and see nothing but slim, socially acceptable bodies staring up at us. Advertising outfits and makeup products, being cast as romantic leads alongside other impossibly attractive slim co-stars, having successful jobs and relationships and being able to generally exist within society with all the privileges that being slim can afford. What we’ve seen over the last five or so years, however, is a huge shift in how bodies are being represented in the media and in society. The body positivity movement started out in 2012, as a hashtag used by those within the fat acceptance movement, a movement spearheaded by larger fat black and ethnic minority women that primarily focuses on the celebration and radical self love of visibly fat bodies, as another descriptor for what the movement represented. Quickly picking up steam on Tumblr and Facebook groups, and later via plus-size bloggers on Instagram, the movement has since trickled into the mainstream, causing somewhat of a body acceptance and self-love revolution. Body image and presentation is the source of stress and anxiety for a large number of people, if they do not fit the supposed norm and unfortunately, the ambient noises and people’s opinions on one’s body type, doesn’t help either. Whether or not we are comfortable in our bodies, this nagging can take its toll and have adverse effects on our mental health. We are talking of situations when poor body image causes depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders and other mental health issues, that can change a person’s life entirely. Brief History Body positivity has its roots in the fat acceptance movement of the late 1960s. Fat acceptance focuses on ending the culture of body shaming and discrimination against people based upon their size or body weight. The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance was first established in 1969 and continues to work to change how people talk about weight. The term "body positive" emerged in 1996 when a psychotherapist and an individual who had been through treatment for an eating disorder founded the website thebodypositive.org. The site offers resources and educational materials designed to help people feel good about their bodies by taking the focus off, of losing weight through unhealthy diet and exercise efforts. The body positivity movement in its current form began to emerge around 2012, initially focusing on challenging unrealistic feminine beauty standards. As the movement grew in popularity, the original focus on acceptance of weight began to shift toward a message that “all bodies are beautiful.” While body positivity has become increasingly popular, people continue to be confused about exactly what it means. Part of the reason why body positivity is so misunderstood is due to the fact that there are so many different definitions for what the movement means. Body positivity also means enjoying the body you have and not beating yourself up over changes that happen naturally due to aging, pregnancy, or lifestyle choices. Instagram played a pivotal role in the rise of the body positivity movement. In recent years, a number of magazines and companies have incorporated efforts to be more body positive in their publications and marketing efforts. Some magazines have stopped airbrushing models, while some companies have developed marketing campaigns incorporating body acceptance messages. Health Focused Self-Care Self-care can sometimes masquerade as a way to change or control your appearance, but self-care should focus on doing things that make you feel good about the body you have now. Show respect for your body. Eat healthy meals because it fuels your mind and body. Exercise because it helps you feel strong and energized, not because you're trying to change or control your body. Wear and buy clothes for the body you have now—not for some planned future version of yourself. You might be holding on to your “thin clothes” because you plan to eventually lose weight, but such habits can make it hard to feel good about yourself today. Look for things that make you feel comfortable and good about how you look. Purge your closet of clothes that don't fit your current physique. Your body may change in size and shape in the future, but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t be able to look and feel good about yourself in the here and now. Purge your social media feeds of accounts that don’t make you feel good about yourself. If you find yourself constantly comparing yourself to others, you’re less likely to feel good about yourself. Follow accounts that spark your interests and that leave you with positive feelings. On Instagram in particular, many accounts are focused only on portraying perfection or an idealized image of the body. The body positivity movement still has a long way to go. Until we get to a place where people of all sizes and ethnicities, can once again, see the movement as a safe space for us to celebrate our bodies and live peacefully without the disrespect, trolling and unkindness of others. But we might still see instances of fatphobia displayed rampantly. Take what happened recently with the British singer Adele, where people were praising her for her weight loss when it shouldn’t even be something people are discussing. So, how do we change this? One great thing that can help the movement along is allyship. People who live in privileged and smaller bodies, can be a part of the body positivity movement by using their platforms and voices to uplift, retweet and reblog the thoughts, opinions and perspectives of voices who would otherwise not be heard, due to how they look. With their help, we can deconstruct the dangerous and harmful narratives about weight created by the media and diet industry. Change also needs to happen behind the scenes. From directors and agents to PRs and marketers, an increase in physical diversity in employees, can have a profound change in the types of media output we receive. But change is slowly happening, and people of power are stepping up. The movement just needs more support and accountability across the board, if it can ever get to a place where all bodies are treated as equal. At London Rag we believe in promoting body positive image because it makes the concept of “beauty” much more extensive, including a range of bodies.

Trends in color are heavily influenced by the current state of the world. So in a time of rising inflation, global wars and climate crisis, it’s no surprise we’re seeing a collective yearning for escapism and angst expressed through color. This year, expect to see a strong divide between nostalgic, calming color palettes and dark, dystopian color schemes. Calming and positive color palettes give us much needed escapism and optimism, while darker dystopian colors tackle the current political and economic landscape head-on with grit. The 2023 color trends are all about light and shade, offering us an opportunity for self-expression on the far ends of the spectrum. So whether you’re in the optimism camp or in the pessimism (or dare we say realist) school of thought, at London Rag we have got you covered for the upcoming color trends. Cobalt Blue Cobalt color is often referred to as elegant and highly saturated shade of blue. It's quite a strong, characteristic shade, which is appearing more and more often in our wardrobes. The perception of “beauty” in society is known to be heavily influenced by the fashion and film industry. Our perception of beauty is a reflection that we see “trending” and implementing in our regular lives. 2022 is known as the resurgence of the 2000s, and as many trends we see making a comeback, unfortunately, size zero seems to be one of them too. Over the last decade, the revolution of body inclusivity has been seen blooming, but this blast from the past is leaving most of us in whiplash. Trends such as low-rise, skinny jeans, and more have been correlated to the heroin chic style in the 2000s. The ‘heroin chic’ aesthetic referred to girls who were overly skinny and looked grungy, which was problematic then, and even more so problematic now, after years of progress in body positivity. The skinny girl with skinny legs and skinny waist was something that many brands in the past popularly preached. The most prominent example is Victoria’s Secret Angels which was closed down 5 years ago and was “rethinking their whole business”, it was a step towards inclusion and putting the skinny beauty standard behind. But looking at the turn of events, there’s a lingering fear of its return which might affect the revolution of body positivity and inclusivity. Image Credits: lifeandstylemag Now, let’s talk about beauty standards, the first thing to come to mind is the Kardashians. 2010 was the era of big butts with Brazilian Butt Lift fashion (read more about BBL surgery here) being a big part of the culture after Kim Kardashian and her big butt were a part of many magazines in the mid-2010s. Though she claimed and “proved” that there were no implants and treatments involved in her figure, there have been other theories as well. Nevertheless, it was enough to influence a large number of people around the globe which gave a 77.6% rise in BBL surgeries according to a survey by the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. But her 2022 MET appearance in the stunning Marilyn Monroe dress left us shocked when she admitted to losing 16 pounds - in total 21 pounds - just to fit in the dress and the diet she followed. The unhealthy course of this action was debated over Twitter for weeks to come. Image Credits: Swirlster The influence of the Kar-Jenners is wide and immense. At the new show premiere, there was also the commotion of Khloe Kardashian, her recent weight loss and ‘snatched waist’, and rumors of her getting her implants out. This new turn of events was then even more encouraged by Kim Kardashian nude dress of Marilyn Monroe. Even now we see Kim Kardashian promoting “tummy-tightening” products. We all know that the Kardashians were never the role models for body positivity except for their apparel and fashion businesses where they offer a wide range of sizes. The trends also came into notice when Miu-Miu came out with the micro mini low-waist skirt and other such brands brought back skinny jeans, low-waist jeans, and skirts, micro skirts. The trends in the 2000s were often seen on ‘zero figure’ women as they flattered only that particular body type. This is what jarred us seeing them all on the runways worn by skinny models. It is indeed saddening to see that the 2010s revolution of body positivity and body neutrality to date was so easily put down by the trends of 2022. But the ray of light is how many brands and designers have opposed this change, and someday we hope for the masses around the globe to be accepting of our natural, beautiful bodies. The definition of maximalism and minimalism can be quite broad as it is perceived in varied ways by every individual depending on their own understanding of the terms. To further feed curiosity and evolve the knowledge on the subject, we delve into the topic of where the two stand today and how you can incorporate them into your wardrobe depending on your preferences. Let’s start with maximalism vs minimalism and their core definition. When it comes to minimalism, be it in interiors, fashion, or lifestyle, it’s all about being practical and focusing on what is absolutely needed rather than just going with wants and desires. The aim of a minimalist lifestyle especially is to have the bare minimum that is all about satisfaction which according to some theories helps us lead a more active and physically and mentally healthy life. As you subtract everything that is superficial and based on mere wants, you tend to be more fulfilled with the basic necessities and have more time and space to be free of the turmoil that we face when it comes to making choices. Even in interiors, the focus is more on a monochromatic theme, and if needed, some geometrical elements to cut through the monotony. We often see interior designers play with textures when it comes to a minimal theme so as to make it not too empty of feeling either, but also there is a purpose for every element used. The maximalist lifestyle, however, is all about following your desires and indulging in what you want rather than just focusing on the essentials. It focuses on your happiness rather than practicality and giving in to your cravings. The maximalist lifestyle may not necessarily be healthy and is all about enjoying what you want. The interiors of a maximalist aesthetic is usually bright and rich with elements that stand out and often are not practical but there just for visual pleasure. Now, we won’t be going in-depth about minimalism in general but rather discussing its presence in the fashion world. The saying, “less is more” is precisely what minimalism is, you cut off anything that is not needed and always choose quality over quantity. This goes for everything: interior design, fashion, visual aesthetics, lifestyle, etc. Most minimalists when it comes to fashion lean toward a capsule wardrobe that suffices their needs. While maximalism is “more is more” which means you buy and indulge in everything that you desire and focus on wants rather than needs, which is basically the minimalist opposite. New Look By Christian Dior (Images by JDInstitute) Looking back on the history of minimalism, it came about as a movement that rebelled against the traditional representation of maximalist art. In fashion, minimalism focuses on the functionality of the clothing rather than its visual appearance. Minimal clothing of the past mostly focused on simplistic geometric elements and had a sharp look to them, with a monochromatic color theme. We see this in the work of Yohji Yamamoto, Issey, Miyake, Calvin Klein, especially New Look by Dior, and other brands and designers in the 1900s. Yohji Yamamoto Spring 1999 (Image by Vogue) On the other hand, maximalism today came about from the idea of Art Nouveau a style of maximalist art that began in the 1890s. Since then maximalism has developed over the years and is often referred to as a “fad” or “trend”. We saw its rage in the 2000s when the blingy Juicy Couture tracksuits came about and the DIY fashion, broad belts, bright colors, etc were trending. And now that we are witnessing the resurgence of the Y2K fashion, it’s not very surprising that all the over-the-top and flashy fashion is back. This resurgence has come about as a result of the end of quarantine. The masses could finally enjoy the “normal” way of life and the excitement is being expressed in the form of clothing as well! Versace, Fendi, Valentino with its PPPink Collection, and more designers and brands showcased maximalism in some way or another be it in prints, exaggerated silhouettes, embellishments, bright colors, etc. It’s refreshing and invigorating to see the beauty of the over-the-top aesthetic all over. Image from MakersValley However, we are now witnessing an era that showcases both aesthetics rather than maximalist vs minimalist aesthetic, we are witnessing both. As the terms are quite subjective and the perception of them differs for everybody, it can be quite confusing, but understand that minimalism is all about only essentials and subtracting anything that is unnecessary, while maximalism has no limits and is all about your desires and wants. Today, conscious minds are about sustainable, environmentally conscious fashion, though the two don’t always go together. The lifestyle of many today witnesses minimalism in every aspect of their life including fashion. Minimalism is about only having things that are necessary, which mostly includes basic and light clothing. It was what most of us adopted during the quarantine, which for many was purely out of circumstances. This lifestyle and fashion choice for some have followed through while others went all maximalist post-pandemic with everything. At the end of the day, it’s a choice, and while we all agree that maximalism is thriving today, there’s still a portion of the people out there that are keeping it simple and minimal. If you are looking for classics and basics or trendy and quirky fits, London Rag has it all! So, check it out to elevate your preferred aesthetic wardrobe. Take a walk down the wild road with us. We are sure you will not be disappointed. After some extensive research through the runway looks, it’s safe (or rather unsafe?) to say that the world is going wild this fall in the most stylish way possible. And we have fallen prey to this trend. Animal prints have been around for decades and it keeps coming back now and then. The fun part is which prints come back into trend and how they are incorporated into our fashion style. As different people have their preferences, it is always interesting to see how especially stylists incorporate the trends in their work. Animal prints are known to be fun, sexy, and controversially, a little bit frivolous. But this new era of post-pandemic is about going all out but in a sophisticated way, and this trend is not indifferent. We see the prints coming in a refined, enjoyable way that is neither too much, nor is it basic. Leopard print, cheetah print, zebra print, and other animal prints were heavily included in the 90s and Y2K fashion. As we are right now witnessing the resurgence of the era, it is not very surprising that animal prints are a part of the fall season. The runway shows of Roberto Cavalli, Salvatore Ferragamo, and many such designers showcased stunning Autumn/Winter22 pieces that have animal prints that look phenomenal in a rich, elegant, and very fun way. Animal prints were well-known in the Cleopatra era and were mainly used by royals in the form of fur, but today the print has progressed in many different ways and is available to everyone in varied forms such as animal print footwear, animal print clothing, accessories, etc. Its trend keeps coming back now and again. And today, the common people have happily adopted the trend. We have seen peeks of it in the influencer styling and some celebrities as well showcasing animal prints in their ensemble. To make sure you are on top of this trend, London Rag has an array of varied fashion items to keep you in the fashion loop. Leopard Print: Now, the most significant debate to ever exist, is about the difference between cheetah and leopard print. Let’s end it once and for all though. While leopard print is the one with little rosette print, the cheetah has literal spots. And now that that’s clear, let’s move on to just how pretty the leopard print is in fashion. London Rag has options in sandals, boots, clothes, etc. Leopard print instantly levels up an outfit with its warm popping quality. It looks good as an accent with footwear or a bag but is also great as the main character of an outfit. The print is also quite versatile and can be worn for casual outings as well as fancy outings. We would suggest small elements of it for fancy occasions. Floral Print Ruched Bodycon Dress Button Up Printed Blouse Lace Detail Leopard Print Crop Top Joelle High Heel Bow Tie Leopard Print Mules Pokey Croc Vegan Leather Over The Knee Block Heeled Boots Dobos Casual Walking Bow Mules Snake Print: Snake prints exhibit a very sexy allure that is enchanting and makes you stand out in a crowd. It could be a little tricky to style, but if you find the knack for it, it could definitely bloom your wardrobe with its fierceness. You also see the print in funky colors which really makes it pop out in a crowd. The print in itself is interesting enough so exaggerated silhouettes are not exactly required for the print to make an impression. A simple shirt or even a pair of heels would look striking, especially if you are looking for an element just to cut the monotony of an outfit. You can see more styles of clothing and footwear on londonrag.com and ragnco.com! Such Flirt Snake Pattern Block Heeled Sandals Bondage High Heel Lace Up Sandals Dina Pointed-Toe High Heel Mules Ashford Handcrafted Sneakers Hera Runaway Special Classic Ankle Boots Wibele Croc Textured Metal Show Detail Loafers Croc Print: We think everyone owns at least one single item that is croc print or croc embossed. The croc print is the most well-known after leopard and cheetah as it is a common element in leather products. The croc print is classy, elegant, and absolutely stylish. If you are new to animal prints, a good way to start is with animal print footwear. The print makes quite an impression as the accent of an outfit and looks fierce but lively at the same time. Fashion is always evolving, resurging, and redefining, just like life. And fashion is a core part of our life as it depicts our constant changes, preferences, likings, and most times, even our personality. And in today’s rapidly changing social media trends and styles, we are seeing a lot of repetition of the past aesthetics that are now trending. Current situations are similar to what we have experienced in the past; therefore, we see the trends and aesthetics of the time come back in a more refined and evolved manner. But the one thing that does not pace is our moods and personal preferences. Though they slowly evolve with our age and experiences, the way we showcase our changes is most of the time directly connected to our fashion choices. On the days when we are the happiest and most relaxed, we lean toward light and bright clothes, on the days when we want to present ourselves seriously and look bold and confident, we lean towards darker, sharper, and more structured clothing. While many do this almost unconsciously, these depict our personality or rather moods through our fashion. We even see designers showcasing either general current issues or their personal journey through their fashion which makes it relatable. The season relates the clothes to the weather and how we feel during the weather and the clothes depict the aesthetic of these directly in their fashion. We have also witnessed this in many films and through personal experiences about how we dress in a dull manner like gothic on the days we are sad we lean towards a more light academia vibes, and dress more brightly and heavily like the Y2K era when we are happy. And this is what makes our fashion aesthetic. Following are some of the aesthetics that we see frequently and could help revamp or add to your wardrobe! Art Hoe Art hoe was a popular aesthetic on Tumblr and was a large part of pop culture. It depicts artsy elements mostly focusing on nature and art like flowers, paintings, bright colors, and more. The clothing for this aesthetic mostly includes color blocking, floral prints, pleated details, plaid prints, checkers, etc. Here, we’re pairing some fun checkered wide-leg pants with a multi-colored butterfly tube top. The contrasting prints are fun, bright, and artsy. And the white sneakers are a nice break from the maximalist fit. WATERCOLOR CHECKS PATTERNED DENIM PANTS CHASING BUTTERFLIES TUBE TOP ACTIVE LACE-UP SNEAKERS Bohemian Many perceive the bohemian aesthetic to be related to the vibes of dreamcatchers, which is not entirely true to its nature. The bohemian fashion aesthetic leans towards a more hippie and vintage feels where the fabrics are threadbare and knitwear and crochet clothes are involved, with varied prints and colors, chunky accessories, etc are involved. We’ve got some floral print shorts here with pom pom lace at the hem, paired with a pleated bustier top and espadrilles platform sandals. The added crochet bag adds a bit of playful element to the whole look and makes the fit fun, easy, and light. TROPICAL PRINTED POM POM SHORTS PLEAT DETAIL TIE-UP CROP TOP DREAM CATCHER HANDMADE CROCHET BOHO ROUND BAG ELSA DOUBLE STRAP PLATFORM ESPADRILLES WEDGES Dark Academia Luxurious, rich, dark, and mysterious, the dark academia aesthetic is mainly focused on darker neutrals. It also includes a hint of gothic but in a more sophisticated and elegant way. The aesthetic is very vintage European and focuses on the elite fashion and vibes of the time. The colors are mostly dark neutrals, greens, etc. The fashion leans towards corsets, trousers, blazers, plaid and checkered prints, and clothing that is a bit masculine and sharply structured. We’re styling a fancy mini dress, though you can have a pick of mini dresses that have ruffles, and laces, and pair it with these structured croc sandals which blend well with the green. The color palette is very dark academia and we love to see it. VELVET MINI BODYCON DRESS PRETTY ME PATENT CROC ULTRA HIGH PLATFORM SANDALS Light Academia Light academia is all about calm, elegant, and light visuals where you feel soothing and serene. The light academia aesthetic is almost contradicting the dark academia aesthetic and is all about neutrals like beige, off-white, white, and pale pastels. It’s all about light art paintings, nature, clothing, and decor. The fashion often includes plaid, plain clothes, light cotton, silk and satin, and coffee latte vibes that make you feel cozy and relaxing. Here we’re pairing a ruched bodycon dress which is beige and light with a one-shoulder strap and a thick, cozy sleeveless faux fur teddy coat, and some simple white heels. The fit is elegant, cozy, and minimal. RUCHED BODYCON MINI DRESS SLEEVELESS DOUBLE BREASTED TEDDY COAT HIGH PORCH DRAWSTRING BAND HIGH HEELED SANDAL Dreamy Dreamy is all things surreal and soft. The aesthetic revolves around an angelic, clouds, paradise kind of a mood where cotton candy, fluorescent elements, and soft detail visuals are included. The dreamy aesthetic is all about a wondrous, awe-inspiring feel that makes you feel excited but calm at the same time. For us, a dreamy fashion aesthetic is all about ruffles, laces, soft silk, satin, and sheer material which is flowy and beautiful. For a dreamy outfit, we are putting together LACE DETAIL DOBBY SLIP DRESS CASSINO THONG LACE UP CHAIN HEEL SANDAL French Girl The French are all about simplicity and finding beauty in the bare minimum, and their fashion showcases just that. The fashion is not exaggerated unless there’s a reason to, and the signature red lip is the most distinctive of the French girl fashion aesthetic. We are pairing a cutout baggy shirt with a wrap-around design and some flared leggings with chunky sneakers. A notch up on the classic french girl. The fit is stylish and minimal, so add a red lip and strut down those streets! CUT OUT LONG SLEEVE TIE UP TOP TIMELESS STRETCH FLARED PANT PRISCA STILETTO CRYSTAL BROOCH PUMPS
Some risqué business is back in the fashion landscape and we note this as celebs go gaga over it. The naked dressing style is here to reign again! The stamp of its return and approval was seen at the Met Gala 2022 where the stars stunned the carpet with various sexy dresses that left us all in awe. The naked dressing has gotten-nakeder?-and even more risqué than it ever was. The sheer fabrics, skin-colored bodycon dresses, and cut-out, barely-there dresses have been raging on the red carpets since the beginning of this year. Even the footwear is transparent heel, glass sandals footwear that we’ve seen on many celebrities till now. The naked dressing goes way back to the ancient civilizations of India and Rome when saris and tunics originated and the fabrics and the bodies were subject of art and admiration! The saree is a beautiful flowy garment that is draped around the body, and its sheer fabric showcased a woman’s bare torso and neck. Even today we see a variety of sarees with embroidery and other embellishments adorned beautifully all over. The tunics which are famously called chiton originated from Greece and were worn by the elite class, made with fine wool, were beautiful and so thin that it was almost transparent. Image Credits: Times of India Image Credits: britishmuseum.org What is sheer clothing? Sheer clothing was then seen to be widely popularized in the 20s when women leaned towards stockings and pantyhose as part of their daily wear clothing and gained recognition in the 50s when the sheer dresses came about as evening dresses for fancy occasions such as dinner parties and balls which were a common frequent occurrence. Though the design was sophisticated and elegant there was an underlying sense of allure that was enticing. And then came the 80s when the concept of mesh dress and clothing, sheer leggings, and lacy dresses completely changes and it was all about showing off the bodies with sexy dresses made of transparent, see-through fabrics and laces. Every woman in the 80s owned a pair of sheer stockings for showing off her long legs since short skirts were a rage back then. The mesh tops were also quite popular, especially in neon colors, and popularised by the rappers of the top. They were usually layered over a bra or even bare chest. The fishnet tights were also trendy and were usually worn under shorts and came in varied colors. Image Credits: thevou The history of risqué clothing has many stars that popularised and encouraged sexy dressing. Marilyn Monroe, Cher, Madonna, Kate Moss, and Jane Birkin in the past have been seen in naked dresses throughout history, continuing with Beyonce, Rihanna, Hailey Bieber, Kendall Jenner, Zendaya, and many more. Image Credits: Harper’s Bazaar In today’s era we see many designers coming up with different designs and fabrics to showcase the naked dressing. Rihanna’s CFDA moment in 2014 was memorable and left us all in awe with the beautiful shimmery sheer bodycon dresses with a coord head wrap and gloves. Beyonce at the 2015 MET Gala also stunned the carpet in a sheer gown with gorgeous jewel embellishments adorned all over. The daring looks are a memory and proof of the naked dressing coming back. The MET 2022 was full of sheer and mesh dresses which were even more risque than the past though the nature of them today is still seductive, there is an underlying romantic notion to them as well. Jacquemus’ latest Le Papier collection showcased beautiful sheer clothing which are lovely romantic and also sexy at the swame time. Image Credits: Glamour Image Credits: Getty The subtle way other celebrities are taking the route of naked dressing is through naked shoes that are taking the internet by the storm. We’ve seen Kylie Jenner and Hailey Bieber strutting the streets in barely-there transparent heel sandals. The Amina Muaddi Holli Glass sandals also became popular amongst the A-list fashionistas and were seen on many stars at events and alike. And hence, we’re now witnessing the era of naked dressing which is even more naked and redefined from the past.
